Salary expectations for a small HF
Currently an IBD analyst interviewing with an Equity L/S hedge fund with around $500m AUM. They have around 15 employees in total.
What comp would you expect for an investment/research analyst at a fund like this?
Thanks
That is a huge headcount for that size AUM.
Agreed, I thought the same so I’m expecting low pay?
AUM/headcount means nothing without more info on what the strategy and fee structure is.
Strategy is value investing, unsure what the fee structure is but I assume a standard 2/20.
Any guess what base bonus could be for a research/investment analyst here?
Even if locked up capital at 2/20, $500MM is extremely low for a team of 15. How can you pay people? Unless there's reason to believe AUM grows significantly from there, I don't see how the math works.
How many investment professionals of the 15?
I think 10 but I’m not 100% sure, I never asked I’ve only had a first round so far
That is a lot of investment headcount relative to AUM...do you know anything about the history of the firm? Is it a new firm where AUM is expected to scale rapidly? Or, is it an older firm where AUM has come down recently?
$100-$125k base + 0-200% bonus seems right
