Sell side s&t intern-> Buy side quant full time

How doable is this - target school, 3.5+ gpa

I have an internship at a bank in s&t. However, after graduating, i hope to be in the buy side, specifically the quant team.

  1. Does taking this internship lower my chances for full time opps in the buy side?

  2. What’s the best trade desk to be on to make the transition - xva, fi, equity derivatives , fx etc?

Appreciate all and any insights!
