Senior Transition into Multi-Strat Hedge Fund

Very Interested in Senior Community Members' views on the feasibility of parlaying a successful career in sellside AND buyside M&A Advisory (I.Banking) work into a role as a deal maker for a multi-strategy Hedge Fund looking at public 'Constructivist' (friendly-activist) investing? I conceptually like the value proposition, but i have never heard of hedge fund roles other than trader, marketing/capital-raising and pm roles.
