Statar Capital Commodity/Nat Gas? - Huge Returns
Anyone heard of Statar Capital, a nat gas and commodity hedge fund, and how they generate their returns?
Fund started in September of 2018 and racked up huge returns only trading futures (no OTC) in a discretionary manner:
2018: +12%
2019: +34%
2020: +31% (end of July)
Curious to know more about them
Don't know their secret sauce, but googling their Founder/CIO show's he's a major jackass.

Two of the founder list their GPAs (!) in their bios which seems to corroborate the impression left by that NYP story.
don't blame them in this fund raising environment. You'll be surprised how allocators need to be wooed.

Well, 5.0/5.0 at MIT is quite impressive. Even more so considering that he finished his degree within 3 years. Why do you think this is unusual?
I guess... I mean when you have the DE Shaw backgrounds, and the above track record seems like you should be good. I'm in commodities as well and the idea of someone bringing up their GPA just seems laughable, even if it's a 5.0 at MIT. To each his own I guess.
Might be different on hedge fund side vs trade shop world but regardless the guy sounds like a piece of work IF what the nypost article says is true on top of being the sort of guy to list gpa long after it could possibly be relevant.
It's the NY post, it's a tabloid. Plus, if you got an insta model pregnant, you would be doing the same thing
very impressive profile (MIT, LB, MS, DE Shaw, Citadel, starting his own fund which has returned 332%). But threw it all way after bribing for an abortion. Looks like a handsome lad as well.
