is it even possible even working associate for 3-5 years?

Definitely can move past associate. Depending on the SWF it can be hard to get past senior Principal. In the UAE, for instance, senior management tends to be reserved for Emirates.
So it is possible to become VP, Director? May be not principle of course but i’m fine with that, as long as I get to make deals, i don’t wanna do grunt work forever
