Taking Time Off To Volunteer

I’ve been at a SM for about a year now and have come to realize that this job just might not be for me.

I love the subject matter and love looking at companies, but frankly I’m getting to the point where I don’t think I can handle the day to day stress. I’m at the point where I don’t really know what I want to do with my life.

I’m thinking the right move would be to take some time off to reassess what I want to do and just get back to a better baseline mentally. I know sitting around and doing for an extended period of time would 1) be miserable and 2) wouldn’t look great when I decide to start looking for a job again so I was thinking about volunteering for 3 or so months.

Is this a crazy move? I know I might be closing the door to any investing roles but would be curious if anyone has heard of others who have done this.
