the definitive money thread

The oasis dataset is clouded with standardized banking monkeys. There's a lamentable lack of data points on HF compensation - let's put some numbers out there.

Base / Bonus / Year in HF (SB if first) / Years elsewhere / MBA (school) / strategy / hours

60k / 0-100% / 10k / 2 / N / deep value / 40-60 90k / 50-150% / 3 / 0 / N / merg arb / 50-60 70k / 0-50% / 10k / 2 / N / long-short / 40-70 80k / 0-100% / 3 / 0 / N / value / 40-50

Keywords: HF, Hedge Fund, salary, pay, compensation, moolah, pettiness

Seenoevil contacted me with a request to add to this thread. I'm sorry, but I have no data points. All of my friends are young -- they are bulge-bracket bankers who have not yet had the opportunity to move to hedge funds. I know the rumors, of course, but I would imagine that the original poster is already well-informed about those.

If this is their first year, I imagine there's a signing bonus involved. If there's no such thing, put a "1".

Note: These numbers are on the low side, I think.

45k / 0-100% / 5k / 0 / N / value / 40 / 0
