Thoughts on Ashler Capital?
Only seeing info from several years ago now. What’s the culture, comp, and sweatiness looking like in 2024?

Yeah, but like how bad is it? How much variation is there by fund?
What? Why are you asking “how bad is it”?
I don’t think you guys understand the delta between citadel (any of Surveyor, Ashler, Global Equities) vs the L/S pods at MLP, BAM, P72 etc. Citadel is the only one that actually imposes their process on each team and forces you to run tighter.
There are not-so-good teams at Citadel, but the average team at Citadel is a lot better than the average at the other pods and vs most single managers (at least from a process standpoint).
It’s literally the same strategy under a different name. From what I’ve been told this is strategic for increased management access. Consider a NDR. The bank that’s hosting it isn’t gonna give 3-4 different spots to various teams at citadel, but they will give it to Ashler and Citadel.
Source: I’m interviewing there rn
Different culture completely. Yes still stressful, high performing, etc. It’s not like they don’t hire top people. But it isn’t the stereotypical Citadel culture you read about. More collaborative, etc. Just compare the turnover there vs other places to get a sense.
I have been hard pressed to find anything in particular about Ashler. There’s only a couple posts on WSO and even less on Reddit. How would you recommend I take a look at turnover or other info?
Relative to GE the team structure is more US centric, and greater capital commitment / book size per PM and Analyst. Seem to have been consolidated a few pods as part of a turnover. Matt Simon runs the show there. Practically speaking everything else about it is just Citadel, you just have another name in your email signature to enable corporate access so the CFO's don't ask why there's 7 citadel analysts in the meeting.
Matt simons background is unprestigious
So?
How is he head of Ashler. Bro literally went to Lehigh.
You’re an idiot. This guy has arguably the greatest PnL track-record in L/S history and you’re talking him down for going to Lehigh. Stfu kid.
Do humanity a favour and use protection. Don’t have kids.
Why mention Lehigh but not his M7 MBA you clown
LMAO - shh its ok IB intern.... go back to your little braindead corner where you can make your prestige lists
Might just be the most braindead comment on the site. Probably rage bait.
Probably easier to give a good answer if you give some more info on what type of firm you're at currently and what type of role you're interviewing for?
