Tontine Asset Management
Would love to hear people in the industry's thoughts about Tontine (Jeffrey Gendell). I was contacted by a HH about an opening there and was wondering if it was something worth pursuing as I look to make the jump from IB to HF. Obviously was killing it for a while and then got crushed in 08/09 but it seems like things are trending back up (Portfolio up to over $800mm).
Did you ever hear anything about this?
Curious too. Gendell seems very good; see Patrick Industries and IESC as two companies he's involved with operationally.

I'm looking for information about Tontine. The fund did extremely well (38% over a decade) before it blew up after Lehman. In a lot of ways, this is the most similar fund I've seen to the fund that I work at currently (except the returns are higher and this firm didn't blow up). Out of curiosity, I am trying to learn more about Tontine's history, why they blew up, what sort of investments they made that helped them achieve 38% before the blow up, etc. I haven't done much research yet, but there isn't a lot on Google, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
