Top SM HF/Crossover vs. Founder of YC Startup
Current MF PE associate who did 2 years at a top banking group prior. Have offer from top SM HF/crossover shop (think Greenoaks, Lone Pine, Thrive, etc.) and was recently accepted into YC as well (with a technical co-founder). I find the investing job interesting (heavily dislike the process work in banking and PE) but have always wanted to build my own company. Not optimizing for money; would weight interest/fulfillment and money equally.
Any advice on how to think about this?
Starting to think most of these are fake from sophomores for their mental masturbation bank
these are the type of people who you hope are on the other side of your trades
I was in a similar boat last year. Founding principal role at a startup vs vc/growth role at top crossover.
Ended up going with the startup for a variety of reasons. Happy to DM if helpful, don’t want to say too much publicly.
It’s going to vary significantly depending on the fund/opportunity.
Tough call, would take the crossover seat though
