Transferring roles within the firm after summer internship

Hi all, I am currently a Junior at one of the semi-target schools. I recently applied for an investment analyst internship at one of the higher end HF's in my city. Unfortunately, they told me they had filled their analysts role, but were wondering if I would consider an internship in an investment operations role. Operations isn't my top choice, but is it worth getting a prestigious HF on my resume for when I'm applying for a full-time job next year? Also, how common is it for interns who were given a return offer to switch departments within the firm? (in other words could I do well enough in operations to be considered for the full time analyst position?).
