Unmotivating boss

Hi guys:

this is probably just some garden variety issue, but currently have a boss who really wants you to pull long hours, and only praises people if they work through vacations etc. Will also make it clear he doesn't give a f** about others (will state so explicitly).

Honestly find it a bit demotivating. But equally I don't think that's the worst that could happen. My thinking is to not let his lack of leadership skill influence my life - so I will just keep working hard for myself (for now).

Any other tips on how to optimize?

Thanks!
