Urgent Help >> Breaking into HF
I am a senior now and was originally applying for management consulting positions. However, it didn't work out.
I am engineering major with data analysis minor, and I am from a small rich school where so many alumni go on to work in hedge fund or venture capital.
My question is: I am trying to get into any of these two industries because it will be relatively easy to reach out to alumni and ask them for jobs, but I have no idea about any of these two industries. Where should I start so by the spring I would good to go for interviews, etc
..........failed in management consulting and your backup is HF/VC?
You might be in for a surprise here
A lot of slightly smaller VC/growth equity funds are actually pretty receptive to cold emails, at least from my experience so far
Why would you want to join an industry or role you know nothing about?
Very silly reason for choosing a career path, because others from your school have gone to work there and you can reach out to “ask them for a job”. Any job you get on that basis is probably not a very good one.
Do some reading on mergers and inquisition and wso.
From reading your text, I get the feeling that you think getting a job in HF is as easy as if it is a walk in a park..... a legit HF job is never easy.
You can start by writing an awesome investment pitch.
When you get lucky in HF, please get me a job too thx.
