Wanting to end up in a HF, but no idea how to get there.
Hi everyone,
For context, I'm an upcoming Junior at a T25 school in Finance. I've always wanted to end up working at a hedge fund or a L/S fund. I'm not adamant on forcing myself into a label of "HF" or "AM", being so young and inexperienced. However, I know for certain I want to work on the buyside with investments in the future.
While it's clear where I want to end up, I don't have a straight path in mind to get to where I want to be. I've read articles discussing the multiple paths people have taken like AM, IB, and ER. All of these job descriptions sound very exciting. Therefore, it's really difficult for me to pick a position to find summer internships at. Additionally, I'm not sure what hedge funds are hiring from the most. Do you have an opinion on what careers help you in the HF industry? Is there an easier way to narrow down my internship search?
