What to expect with this weird interview HF process?
hi folks - need some insight here. So for background context
- I have been contacted by a 3rd part recruiter about role in a hedge fund - he connected me with the HF HR/Recruiter
- I spoke with the HF recruiter - that went well
- HF recruiter connected me with the head of the team - interview went really well/bonded/etc. mentioned I expect to here from them.
- got a request from HF recruiter to a.) do a writing doc 2.) coding test
I feel comfortable with my writing but a coding test...i've never really done that before. My coding experience is googling a problem to solve what i need to get the job done.
You guys think I am done for? From what you've seen, do HF put a lot of weight in coding test interview? I've read that its used more to filter people at the start of the process. Where in my case, I have already connected with the head of the team.
Instead of worrying about it, the pragmatic thing to do is to get on hackerrank or leetcode to improve your weakness. Complaining on a public forum doesn't help you.
Connecting with the head of the team doesn’t mean much if you can’t do the work. There are many candidates I have liked personally that just couldn’t do the work I needed them to do.
Is this a systematic fund? Quant position? Did you have coding experience on your resume? A requirement on the job spec?
If yes to the above then it is important. If not then maybe just a small input into the overall process.
