Having a weak alumni network isn't an excuse. My school had barely any alums, not to mention the fact that I transferred from a CC. If you don't have alumni in banking, you build connections with people until they're as invested in your success as you are. Your number one goal should be finding full time employment. While you're doing that continue networking, but focus on building quality relationships, not just adding another person to your spreadsheet.
I'm not saying that it is. The purpose of the post was to expand my network considering all of my leads have currently run cold. Right now I currently have 2 full time offers out of college but they have nothing to do with IB or anything related to the space. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can I build these connections with people to find the ones who are as invested in success as I am?
PM me
I got you bruh.
As someone who has been in this forum since early in college I can tell you from experience breaking into banking isn't an impossibility from nearly any background, let alone a high GPA and decent experience in the finance sector (remove your name from your post, it takes 2 seconds to find who you are).
Best advice at this point is to reach out to regional boutique banks around the country: SF, NYC, Chicago, Charlotte and try to gauge their full time pipeline. There is obviously a lot of competition but most of these firms don't only care about prestige but rather your knowledge (they will grill you a lot harder than most BBs).
Do you suggest I reach out to MD's/ Associates at the banks? I have attempted to do so but I have not been able to gain any traction in terms of responses. I have also tried reaching out to HR and recruiting agencies as well.
You can reach out to whoever, at this point your only aim is to get some call back or opportunity to interview. Apply and send follow-ups etc etc
I think it would be a good idea to remove your name from the post. The internet is forever. That’s my mentoring for the day.
