For 00'-01' veterans, is tech investing dead?

If there are any 00-01 dot com bubble survivors, I would love to know how you managed through the downturn in the early part of the century? Looking at these tech companies, profitability seems to be much harder to come by vs hyper-growth and I feel a bit lost looking for any good ideas
