How useful is DCF, WACC, and other Finance Modeling for Other Fields?

As I'm barely starting being technical training, I was just curious - these concepts, valuation methods, etc are primarily used in Investment Banking. Is the modeling most prospective analysts learn applied to other fields as well? ex (FP&A, Asset MGMT, etc).
