just graduated college this week. now what?!

Hello everyone.

I just graduated college this week and I’m looking for some career advice.
I interned and received job offer in S&T but turned it down because the product wasn’t interesting to me and I value work life balance more than money.

I accepted a job offer at an f500 company in an industry I’m strongly interested. The pay is far below S&T but work life balance is great.

I’m strongly interested in fundamental non-quant investing. However from my limited understanding most hedge funds are very risky (high chance of fund implode or you getting fired over one mistake). Also most hedge fund jobs are not partner track (meaning you just do ad hoc analysis for the pm for a couple year until they kick you out or force you to get MBA). Also, the work life balance is not that great because you have to follow markets at odd hours.

I want to work in investment analysis. However, I also want some level of work life balance and stability. I want to take international vacations a couple times a year. I don’t care about money as much of the monkeys on WSO. What is the best investment related job for me to pursue?

My friend told me Asset Management but he didn’t tell me anything specific. I want some advice from all of you.

Thanks in advance,

Traveladdict.

i agree with this statement but i still want to relax and catch up on sports once a while. and if im backpacking across south america i cant follow the markets during those days. grad you love to travel! i'm actually obsessed with travel. one of my life goal is the join the TCC (traveler century club) before i die
