Virtual Trading Game Strategies

With the large amount of users on here being youthful and aspiring finance professionals, I wanted to start a thread about what trading strategies they use in virtual/online, investment club and school competitions to give them the upper hand. Now, although these trade strategies may not be the most advised in real word situations, it is still fun to talk about how much success/failure you've had with those risky ETFs, bets against oil, etc. What are your favorite virtual trading strategies for huge returns? What is the best way to make huge returns in one trading session given a fairly normal trading day?

I usually enjoyed playing around with ETFs like $UWTI and $DWTI although without the right timing it can prove to bit you in the butt. I also had a lot of success shorting Twitter and a bunch of biotech stocks that were never going anywhere. Just my two cents.

Sometimes I'll hop on Factset and type in 'top gainers' just to get a feel of what I should be looking into as I attempt to day trade. A couple of my friends in college did this and tracked which ones had the highest potential price movements. They had a decent amount of success with it.

My strategy, day orders for ETFs when most stocks are mostly in the green for that day. I'm not the greatest at long-term trades but I've had a decent amount of success on marketwatch, stockfuse, etc. with ETFs like USO ever since oil has become so volatile.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.
