Interning at a UMM PE firm this summer and a few of the associates were associates at BBs, so definitely possible. The only caveat is that you have to do a lot more outreach and networking, you won’t be reached out to by HHs.
That’s fair. When you say outreach / networking, you mean cold emailing folks on the buyside? I’ve always been good with people and know that networking is a two way, value add street (if done right), so it feels a bit disingenuous to cold e-mail folks about their fund - though maybe that’s the name of the game
Do you have any tips or advice from when you got into ECM or pursuing that first CM job?
