what's the other bank and what group there? if you don't want to name names, give us a general idea.
It's Investment Research at MS.
i know a lot of people in that group. It's obviously 98% financing deals. You'll get placed into a subgroup/vertical (i.e., infrastructure, corporates, regional groups) and will work on things exclusively in that vertical. Good experience and good to have GS on the resume, but it is not as strong of experience as industry groups.
Harder to place strongly out of it vs. other groups. A lot of people do 2 years there and a 3rd year in another GS group.
Would you advise that I try to switch groups now, or should I just stay in it for the summer and then try to change if I get a full time offer afterwards?
And why would you say that it is harder to place strongly out of that group?
