1st round interview

I have a 1st round interview with a middle market bank tomorrow. Any suggestions on what I should expect? I am assuming there will be some technical questions (valuation, accounting, etc.). I understand the DCF analysis pretty well. Can anyone go over LBO analysis for me? I also believe I need to know about transaction comps and company comps. Should I know some recent deals that they closed? Any other suggestions would be of great help. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Can anyone share advice on how to build buyers list...other than PE Firms and competitors looking to gain market share?

I just had a first round with GS, and it was purely fit, so I can't help much with specific technical questions you may be asked by the company you are interviewing with. That being said, definitely know what the company has been up to. What has it been in the news for lately, and if you can reference some of the deals they closed recently or were named advisors on, that is a huge plus.

Sure. By fit, I meant it was about my personality and how my skills/experiences would fit within the firm. I was asked about the responsibilities I had in a position on a resume, as well as the skills that I could bring to the firm. Other questions asked about how I would act in certain team scenarious and specific experiences I had working on a bad team. Finally, I was asked about why I wanted to do IB, and why I wanted to be at GS.

This isnt a complete list of the questions I was asked, but gives a pretty good overview of the nature of the questions.

Hope this helps.
