1st round year 1 (failed), what to expect year 2 ?

If you were inviterd for 1st round (BB) for a SA or off cycle internship, but you did not make it to the 2nd round (mostly due to crisis because feedbacks were great.) what happened the following year when you applied for Grad ?

" Automatically " invited for 1st round ? Or not even this time .. ?

I was also wondering if I can contact next year the analysts/associates that interviewed me and ask them if I can directly send them my resume.. Is this too cocky ?

Depends on the firm. I have a friend who got 1st round, and couldn't get 2nd round scheduled because there were too many applicants for the summer analyst program (ex: Jan). She got moved to a later superday for the full-time program (ex: October).

Another friend didn't get past the 1st round, reapplied after an internship in IBD (product group), and got sent to superday. A year passed between both of his/her applications.
