1st Year Analyst Hours

Hi all, wanted to check in with the first years. I am an incoming first-year at a MM bank and wanted to check in with what to expect. Have never worked in the industry before and truly do not know what to expect in terms of an average schedule. Have scanned the forum and read the horror stories, but after talking with other folks, it looks like the hours aren't as bad as what they seem and maybe that is a function of a good team and maybe deal flow?

Is a 9am-11pm Mon-Thursday, 9a-7pm Friday and a few hours Sunday night pretty standard for a coverage group and is it typically a straight grind the entire time? With this type of schedule looks like you can still lead a pretty normal life outside of Monday-Thursday. I'm sure there are weeks where you're getting crushed and some that might be a bit lighter, but was curious as to what the average schedule looks like and if most of the times you're on call you're just sending emails/updating a tracker or if you're cranking a deck daily.

Is the stress/lack of sleep really as bad as it's made out to be on here or are the people that complain/leave/realize it's too much just one-off cases?
