1st year IB Analyst Exit Ops

Current analyst in a mid-tier group at a BB and already know this job isn't right for me.

Any thoughts on leaving after 1 year of a 2 year analyst stint? Know some might say to just stick it out, but wanted to gather differing opinions for someone who already hates the job.

Are there PE / HF / VC exit opportunities available for a 1st year analyst? And how would one go about conveying the interest to leave after 1 year with headhunters.

Really appreciate if any thoughts here.

I left after 6 months into my stint - granted I had some experience before but there are strategic finance roles you could look for.

Definitely are plenty of exit opportunities but you’re going to need to be extremely prepared. Given COVID and how early recruiting started last year, there are a significant number of second year analysts at too banks / groups that still need a job. I would imagine any shop would take these people before a first year. Curious about what other people think, but I think it might be tough for current first years to leave early given the number of more qualified second years without a position yet.
