2 hour DCF test

2 hour DCF Test,

What can be expected of me? - Boutique shop - some focus on infra, lots of renewable

Have done easy DCF’s involving tickers for base, conservative ect, (look at rareliquid 2hour DCF build for example)

Need to ramp up my learning of DCF’s to start perfecting one model over and over for understanding

Really want this job - any advice appreciated. Please PM or comment away!

Take a look at Kenji Farré’s YouTube channel. He has a lot of interactive and free DCF practice where you pretty much build the model from scratch using the financials provided to you. Not sure how well his courses hold up, and you have to pay for those, but I’ve heard good things. Hope this helps

Many thanks,

YouTube has been a great source of info and I’ve built 3 from scratch from rareliquid and others already 🫡.

Would love to get your opinion on what might be expected from a DCF test, what sort of material I might be provided with, in what form, and then in essence practising that would be the goal.

Really probing to see if anyone’s had any expirience of this, or could shed light on the sort of thing I would be faced with in a 2 hour DCF.

Any more info on this would be great - much appriciated!

Did some renewables modeling from CFI when I prepped for the interview at my current firm (renewables/cleantech), although technicals never came up. The DCF has elements specific to renewables e.g. PPA (power purchasing agreements) and debt modeling is more complex. Having said that, I’m one year in and haven’t touched a renewables model. But you should practice infra/renewables specific models rather than the typical DCF guides that are more generic (consumer, industrial). People with more legitimate experience should chime in.
