let's be honest: most b-school rankings are totally off. the Vault's "most prestigious i-bank" rankings are equally screwed up. why would you expect this list to be any different? perhaps somebody's paying somebody else off.

When I started college, Big4 firms were paying $45,000 with no metion of bonuses, apart from a dismal $2,000 sign-on. This year, they are shelling out up to $60,000 base, approximatley $5k sign-on and good bonus potential, which isn't bad at 45-55 hr per week.

what position is the 45-55 hours per week for? im starting to apply to the I-banks in NY for 2008 as an analyst, particularly Meryl Lynch. Any advice on how to go about it? any help would be great cheers

While we can all sit back and claim these rankings are ridiculous, I think they are pretty good for -most- people. M/B/B and IB are clearly excellent places to begin a career if you are okay with putting in the hours and sacrificing a few years or more of your life. I believe the rankings are just missing a footnote that reads: (1) Without sacrificing your youth.
