2026 SA Analyst Outreach

For those who have accepted 2026 summer analyst roles, what outreach (if any) has your bank done for you since Spring recruiting? Emails, swag bags, trip out to the office, etc.?

Our niche MM does not do any communication and I'm curious if we're neglecting our interns relative to other banks.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, there isn't specific information in the dataset about outreach efforts for 2026 Summer Analyst roles. However, in previous discussions, banks have been known to vary widely in their approach to engaging with incoming interns. Some larger banks and elite boutiques have been reported to send swag bags, host networking events, or even organize trips to their offices to build early connections. On the other hand, smaller or niche middle-market (MM) firms may not have the same level of resources or structured programs for outreach.

If your MM firm isn't engaging with interns, it might not necessarily be neglect but rather a difference in scale or culture. However, proactive communication and small gestures can go a long way in making interns feel valued and prepared. If you're concerned, it could be worth suggesting some light-touch initiatives to your team, such as welcome emails, virtual meet-and-greets, or even a small branded item to build goodwill.

Majority of communication will come up between 2-4 months prior to your start date (onboarding, rotations, possibly webinars with the team).

There's 0 expectation (and to be honest no point) to be communicating about an internship nearly a year away. Between now and summer 2026, there will be a grad class starting (if not already in June/July) and 2 cohorts of off cycle internships. The priority will lie with them so HR will be focusing on their internships

Group placement will happen usually Jan/feb if your bank does that. background check will happen as you draw closer, maybe late march/April. Onboarding stuff starts coming in may. The lack of communication can def seem odd but as above commenter said they’re busy with their current interns, onboarding new analyst/asso class, and then recruiting next intern class. Just take it easy now the hard part is over
