2027 Summer/Fall IB Recruiting Advice (Class of 2028)
Hey everyone, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I’m a sophomore in Toronto, Canada, heading into my second year at a Canadian semi-target. As the title suggests, I’m targeting an investment banking internship for Summer 2027. If it helps to know, I have a very good GPA, and have leadership experience in case comps, pitches, etc.
This past summer, I worked at a search fund where I was the sole individual building buyout models in addition to sourcing, research, and thesis work. I’ll be continuing there in the fall in an “associate” capacity, helping onboard/train interns and taking on more responsibility. I’ve also secured a fall internship at a lower-middle-market investment bank, which should add advisory exposure to my experience.
In terms of networking and interview prep, I have been putting in 2-3 hours of prep for the past 3- 4 months, and do 5-10 cold emails a day. I have not had many coffee chats, maybe around 10.
The reason I am posting this is for some advice on where I should be funnelling my very limited attention. Based on this information, what do you folks recommend? Also, should I aim for an internship this winter?
