6 months IB analyst to corp dev

Wanted to get the forum’s thoughts on the below as I fear I might commit career suicide but humor me a bit.

Been on the desk for 6 months at a shitty LMM bank in NY. I’m in a coverage group that has been growing, went from 2 MDs to 5 and deal flow is very strong.

I’ve been getting great exposure and healthy amount of responsibility. Currently on 2 live deals and learning a ton. My group however constantly takes on sh1tco mandates which makes it hard to get excited about my work.

Recently, I landed a Corp dev role at a publicly traded smallcap Medtech company in California (my hometown). Base is higher than my current salary and I was told bonuses are good. The company is going under some strategic changes and hired a new cfo who is a Medtech legend. I would be reporting directly to him and I would help with presenting to the board of the company.

Am I crazy for taking this corp dev role where I’ve only been an analyst for 6 months? If I take the role I would be getting paid ~120k, great WLB, reporting to the CFO and working on projects to help this small cap company grow AND I would be able to move back to california closer to my gf and family

Dude if you want to do it just go for it. You're still young and you can take risks, worst case scenario you can always go back to banking or a MBA.
