Additional documents when applying for internship

I currently work as an equity research intern at a small fund , I'm applying for internships in IBD in some BB's and boutiques. I do have a few connections in most of the BB's that will help me get my resume noticed. Would adding an additional document like an investment analysis for a company I covered or a financial model help me stand out?

If you're applying to boutiques, then it can't hurt (a short investment thesis that you can talk in detail about during interviews) because if they're looking, they typically prefer someone with relevant experience. If you covered a specific sector/industry, definitely highlight that - that's a big plus!

BB won't care as much - those extra docs will just get tossed in the process, so make sure that your resume highlights in detail your experience, stocks covered...

As said, the BB online submissions will just get screened by HR and probably all that will be passed on to bankers is your resume. It might be worth bringing one of the documents you mentioned to an interview though to show as an example of your work. You need to make sure you didn't sign any sort of NDA-like document with the place you are interning now though. Most places make you sign something regarding confidentiality that usually stipulates any work product you produce is the sole property of the company and can't be shared outside of the company.
