Advice Needed (PE)

So I work at a boutique i-bank. Recently, I saw a posting at a MM PE shop who is also one of our clients. I have recently talked to an MD (sponsor coverage) in our group expressing an interest in transitioning to the buy-side after the analyst program and he said he'd certainly be glad to help out.

The question is that i haven't gotten an interview offer yet, but would it make sense to ask the MD to make a phone call for me to leverage his relationship at the shop?

Any advice/insights would be helpful!

Definitely do this. In fact, you really should have done it earlier - like when you first submitted your resume to the PE firm. You want them to know that you come recommended BEFORE they read your resume.
