ADVICE: Non Traditional Background + Chance of success at top IB firms

This is my first post. I want to see what my chance of success are in nailing a job at GS, ML, JP,MS are with a non-trad background--military, 3 separate colleges undergrad--with the last one a top LAC (Williams) and should I even go to Law school? (MBA seems unintellectual)--and the first two low performing LACs. Started out internship in media/politics--with one at an top think tank in D.C so I'll assume the "posh" aspect shouldn't be hard since I hung around top journos, politicians, lobbyists/academics (i.e: "washington insiders") and continue to. I'm also a foreigner from (Somalia) so I don't know how the diversity thing will play out. Let me know your thoughts. Also, my parents aren't currently connected with top officials back home--but can that be spun during recruitment? Like hey "my dad knows the Somalian PM or is related to gov/business official X?" is it lying? does it happen ? overselling your connections to seem more worthy candidate?
