The fact that some people dont get this is more funny than the email itself and says alot about Ibankers in general. This is way over the top and incredibly toolish. Lets begin:

  1. The girl is an intern and having a private and expensive party at the Ritz. Who the fuck has a champagne reception for their 21st?

  2. "Photo shoots" "generous portions with Ritz cutleries" "When asked "how can I help you Sir/Madame?", you reply "I am here for Lucy's Birthday Party at the Rivoli Bar" LMAO WOW JUST WOW

  3. "The more upper class you dress the better the chance of gaining entry" seriously. This is SUPER SUPER SUPER toolish, more so coming from a twenty year old INTERN.

  4. She has specific TIMES for her guests to come. Notice that she is excluding some guests from the delightful champagne reception and photo shoot. Seriously, wtf?

Basically this is like a Ibanking version of the MTV show my sweet sixteen. If you dont see how incredibly toolish and over the top this is... well, you might be channeling Paris Hilton a bit too much.

this intern for Citi Corp. Fin London that graduated from Oxford reportedly created an invite for her 21st bday at the Ritz with instructions on how to get in. The whole ordeal was so ego-centric that it is almost unbelievable. check the link in the other replies. It got circulated to other all of the other Ibanks in London, and has reached us here in the US and not to metion S.africa, australia, etc. exhuberating that this chick will probably not get an offer anywhere because of her ignorant e-mail. It's really funny, but I kinda feel bad for her

look, sweetheart: unless you get a bunch of your coworkers/collegues/etc to stand up and publicly go to bat for you with a WSJ writer or something, i am not going to believe that shit.

i have read all the articles, i've read your explanation about the email being a big "joke," and i've read the whole string of emails. having done that, i can safely say that you were proably not joking.

Which sweetheart are you talking to? The unfortunate Ms. Lucy Gao, or someone in the thread?

Because I'm inclined to believe that, based on the buzz about this and the content of the email, that if it's a fake, it's a first-rate, brilliant job of one. It has the ring of authenticity in my view (which is worth what you paid for it, of course).
