It won't last.
I interviewed at Alantra (close to when it was going through the merger) and it seemed like they were doing really well and it has apparently continued (been in top league tables for a year now). It definitely seems like European offices are stronger but US is pretty good too, I think.
FWIW, I don't have a ton of insight into the current US alantra deal flow but I'd imagine it's still going well.
What kind of questions did they ask you?
