Depends on what your goals are and if you are OK tracking the Amex credits.

I would say the CSR is probably better for those who only travel a few times a year, don’t greatly value lounge access, and are looking for a card with relatively simple rewards / credits

Amex Plat is probably more valuable to someone who travels more frequently, assigns more value to the Centurion lounge access, and doesn’t mind “jumping through hoops” to use the credits

I travel about 1-2x a month for work and then probably another 5x a year for personal travel, so I prefer the Amex plat, mostly

Because the lounges are better. The credits ($200 Uber, $200 flight incidental, $240 Entertainment, $200 hotel, $100 Saks) fit my lifestyle and are easy to use, so I don’t mind.

If I was a more casual traveler only flying 3 or 4 times a year I would probably prefer CSR. The other advantage the CSR has over the Amex Plat is that it is better for everyday spending. Amex Plat only earns 5x on travel and 1x on everything else. Best set up for those who go with Plat is to use that strictly for travel spend and then to use another card as a daily driver.
