Analyst Housing in SF

Hey everyone, what’s the best way to find housing in SF Av and what does timing look like? Have heard the market is pretty tough but willing to pay up to 3500 for a 1br (am I being too optimistic?) Would like to be in the North Beach, Nob Hill, Marina area due to proximity and what I’ve heard about those neighborhoods. Should I go directly through apartments or is Craigslist better (ik it sounds weird but have gotten this advice a ton). If you have advice on specific complexes would be super helpful too. Thanks a lot in advance.

Have heard fb groups are also useful with single room & month to month subs. If you are interested in a roommate, I am also starting this summer

Median 1 bed rent in the city just hit $3,750 last month fyi. Marina is gonna be most expensive of those neighborhoods. Would focus on nob hill for a 1 br or look to get roommates.
