NYC Analysts, how much are you paying for rent?

Curious to get some datapoints on how much current analysts are paying for both their split in rent and the overall monthly price. Have started shopping around for leases and am trying to gauge how much it's worth paying since I've never dealt with NYC real estate before. Would appreciate any insight!

Not in NY but have friends paying between 2200-2500, for their share of 3x1 and 2x1, off of 100k base. That's located in west/east village area but then you also have upper eastside which is more sketchy but you'll be able to get rent for 2k

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights on how much NYC analysts are paying for rent:

  1. General Rent Estimates:

    • Analysts are sharing 600 sqft apartments with 1-2 people, paying around $2,500 each.
    • Some analysts pay around $1,750 for rent.
  2. Specific Examples:

    • One analyst mentioned paying $1,000/month for an apartment in Chinatown, though it came with issues like rats, roaches, and bedbugs.
    • Another analyst provided a breakdown of expenses, estimating rent at $1,750 per month on an $85k salary.
  3. Roommate Situations:

    • Given the high cost of living, many analysts opt for roommates to share the burden of rent.
  4. Current Market Trends:

    • The move-out rate in Manhattan is high, and there is speculation that rents may continue to decrease as more leases come up for renewal and companies push for early 2021 returns.

These points should give you a good starting point for understanding the rental landscape for analysts in NYC.
