Another Ballin Email

From an Indiana student:

Dear Acacia Rush Chairs, How are you? My name is Joe Yu. A transferred sophomore who transferred from U of Washington, Seattle, WA. I rushed Acacia last semester once and ended up not hearing from it anymore. A few facts about myself.

  1. I am from China, the real China. I came to the US at 2008 and spent my first year studying the damn ENGLISH.
  2. I wish I could be from the Carmel High School or at least somewhere from Indiana, but most of my high school friends are still virgins and playing World of Warcraft in China now.
  3. I fcking raged when I wa...s in China. None of friends ever doubted if they could drink more than I did.
  4. I tripled major in Marketing, Finance and International Business with a 3.75 GPA and look forward to getting my 3.9 back this semester.
  5. I have slept with Asian, Caucasian and Latino girls since I came to the states.
  6. As much as I wish I could know someone in the house to introduce me to the exclusive rush events, most of the friends I have now are still virgins and playing World of Warcraft in the Wells Library instead of China. And I don't want to be one of them anymore. ‎7. It is the second semester of my sophomore year, and I decided to go Greek so it could be my last shot. I have been to a couple of houses with some Greek letter I can't remember but none of them is as good as the sole visit to Acacia last semester. Sadly ACACIA wasn't at the IFC rush event at the IMU so I didn't even... have the chance to talk to anyone for the SPRING RUSH.
  7. Although I know this is a really bad letter, I am still sending it because I don't want to end up with somewhere that I don't really love. And I have balls.
  8. It takes the fucking balls to write an email like this. Imagine doing the same in Chinese and send it to some Chinese guys you never know.
  9. I want to an ACACIAn.
  10. I deserve to be an ACACIAn.

Thank you. I am looking forward to hearing from you. 206-xxx-xxxx or [email protected] Zhou Yu (Joe) Indiana University, Kelley School of Business ...Indiana Daily Student, Advertising Account Executive Indiana University Student Foundation, Marketing Committee Chair

OK the plays on "ACACIAn" at the end got me - that was hilarious.

Juwanna MannI would give him a bid. That is epic.

I think you have to at least invite him out to rush events for the comedic value...I think I would give him a bid as well

pledges are like draft picks. you never know which ones will be busts. this one looks like a winner just based on the legendary rush story.

This is the guy?

"Made in China, updated in America, I came from 7000 miles away to pursue a passion from the bottom of my heart.

Currently I am a junior studying Marketing, Finance and International Business at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Outside the classroom I work as an advertising account executive who is in charge of scheduling ads to generate the budget to run the award-winning Indiana Daily Student.

I hold a chair position of the marketing committee pushing the nationally well-known Little 500 bike race ticket sale for the Indiana University Student Foundation which is the voted as the best student organization at Indiana University.

At the same time, I am a member of American Advertising Federation Indiana University Chapter. Furthermore, I am one out of the twenty students in this chapter who are participating in the 2011 National Students Advertising Competition.

As a faculty selected peer tutor, I also volunteer to tutor business students for the BUS-X201 Technology in Business class which focuses on business modeling and risk analysis with Microsoft Excel.

In fact, two languages, three countries and four colleges are just parts of my diverse experiences. Along the journey in my life, I could always contribute a unique perspective of view to my community and work ethic with passion, versatility and commitment.

That is what I have done before, what I am doing now and what I am going to do in the future.

Currently I am seeking for an internship for the Summer 2011 in Marketing, Finance or any related field. If you have any information you feel like to share, make a connection to me, send me an email and never hesitate to contact me through any channel.

The best part of my life: every morning when I wake up, I always get so excited because I just cannot wait to discover WHAT IS NEXT."

IF that means he played on China's national team, then that is BY FAR the most impressive thing on his resume.

Chess is quite big in China I hear. I myself was a chess player in my day, and in 3rd grade won a championship of St Petersburg, Russia, in a country obsessed with chess. Got a spot to play at the national level. I still consider this a top-3 achievement in my life.

Then again, would you say the programs at top 10 b-schools for finance differ that drastically? I've looked at Wharton, Booth, McCombs, and a few other places' finance programs and with the exception of a one or two extra classes, they're fundamentally the same mixture of classes. The only logical reason for the rankings would be differences in faculty/facility quality, geography in reference to firms, and the schools' relationships with recruiters.

Nope. It all boils down to prestige and quality/quantity of placement.

But the point I'm trying to make is that marketing programs may not differ in quality from school to school, but it is still a bullshit major. I'm not saying that finance is the major of the enlightened (far from), but it is not the steaming piece of fluffball shit that marketing is.

Haha couldn't agree with you more

Bahahahaha. This is most certifiably EPIC. LOL.
