I can’t speak for others but I’ve noticed a general chance in urgency around everything and MDs at my firm are just much chiller recently. I wouldn’t mind if this economic slowdown lasted for a year or two (or if IB just stayed this way long term). Bonuses might be down but getting off work between 7-9 and not staying up past midnight the last few weeks is pretty amazing…and it’s not like the deals aren’t happening, it’s just a change from” we need this out to the client tonight” to a much more manageable pace of finishing work deliverables. Anyone else feeling this?

It’s just because it’s August and the clients are chilling so there’s no one to pitch to. After Labor Day all the MDs will have an urge to pitch random stuff to clients that are not precisely dying to do deals in the current environment.
