The SEO kids are the ones that are randomly leaving for events. I think its a good program, but people definetely look down on it whether it's fair or not.
At the bank I interned, they specified how you landed your internship in the class facebook.
Personally, I don't think the other interns looked down upon the SEO kids. Until I read this post, I thought it was more competitive to get SEO than a regular internship.
A lot of my friends in banking had negative comments about the 'SEO kids' in their groups. The general consensus was that they could not pull their weight.
Now, whether or not this is true is another matter, but there were many negative opinions and no positive ones.
Taking a step back here. Well yes, the idea of promoting a diverse work place is great. I don't think banks should join programs just to hire minorities that didn't make it the same way a normal candidate would have.
Do SEO interns mainly come from targets or non-targets? If they were non-targets, would make some sense to go through the program, but going through SEO from target school would seem kinda suspicious...

My MD had this kid from SEO pick cotton at his estate in the Hamptons on a Saturday because his models kept #reffing out and he was a retard.
