Anyone here ever experienced working for The World Bank? (IMF)

I have a cousin who works there, and an uncle who's a director. Was thinking of asking them to get me in. I'm currently working for a Phys trading house rn but I want to make use of my connections and possibly get in. Also, how do they compare to these BB banks? is it like the daddy of all banks? Ty

The World Bank's development finance arm - known as the IFC - does private equity-type investments in poorer countries, typically in sectors that are critical to driving economic development like energy, infra, financial services etc. Could be a good post-IB buyside role for people interested in impact investing. Note that at these types of places progression tends to be slow, processes are highly bureaucratic, and comp is likely below market, but you will have relatively good WLB and a stable career and potentially have the chance to live and work overseas.

The pay is literally terrible relative to IB or PE. It's a UN/government org so the pay will be close to back office or government job.

Interesting career and projects, good (slow) WLB, if you don't mind a pay cut for those things go for it, but if you think their comp is at all comparable to elsewhere that is definitely wrong
