Are Behavioral Stories from HS fine in SA 2028 Interviews?
Was preparing for behavioral interviews and wanted to know if 50% of my stories can be from high school. I have a good amount of experiences in college too but would probably have to larp certain aspects of them, and I just naturally sound more genuine talking about experiences that actually happened.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, relying heavily on high school stories for SA interviews is not ideal. Interviewers typically expect examples from more recent experiences, especially from college, internships, or other professional settings. High school stories may come across as outdated and less relevant, as they don't reflect your current maturity, skills, or ability to handle challenges in a professional environment.
If you feel more genuine discussing high school experiences, consider using them sparingly—perhaps for one story if it's particularly compelling and demonstrates a unique skill or achievement. However, the majority of your examples should come from college or recent experiences. Focus on crafting thoughtful, specific, and authentic stories from your college years, even if you need to refine or slightly adapt them. Interviewers value how you, as an individual, handled situations, so ensure your stories highlight your personal contributions and growth.
