Are IB keeping up with the tech?
Left IB a just before COVID. At that time we were still printing out decks, meeting in person and marking up pitches either in iPads or by printing out. Analysts would spend hours pulling comps, collating multiple decks with commentary from different MDS/VP/Directors and creating duplicative credits memos.
I moved to a tech scale up and over the last few years the world has changed. Of course we use all the best collaboration tools and everyone is very pro trying new tooling so things like collaboration is super efficient.
When I think back, I almost cringe at how inefficient it was in IB. I thought I'd finally ask - has anything changed?
Are you at least using collaborative comments in ppt/slides? are you using gen AI to build first draft of memos? Are you still reading 400 Pg DD reports? Really curious as it'd be nice to know the analyst role has become more interesting off the back of tech improvements?
