Are signing bonuses 10K before or after tax?
As question above is asking, is the 10K for a signing bonus taxed so we are only getting 7K, or are taxes already taken into consideration by the firm and we receive 10K after taxes? I have never heard until recently that its 10k after taxes and just wanted to check if that was the case.

I thought it was too good to be true. So follow up question, how the hell do people who’s parents don’t have money afford anything after the down payment on two months rent/broker fee? That wipes out their whole signing bonus. They need to inflation adjust the signing bonuses too.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's withheld as if it's 10k as a standard paycheck (so as if it's a $260k/year salary?) but you get it back with your tax return. I might be totally wrong though.
