Are there really differences in BB culture?

I can see how boutiques have different cultures because of their smaller size. But are there really differences in culture at BBs? I've networked with people at most BBs and I've found both awesome and kinda shitty people at every place.

I'm asking this because people always say to pick a place based on culture but I have had a hard time judging this. I understand how specific groups at BBs can have specific cultures but every BB group placement happens after you sign the offer.

Are there any BBs that you guys feel genuinely have a better or shitty culture? Or should you just sign with the place with the best reputation/perception?

I have not worked at a BB but at MM firms culture is usually group/team dependent. The Industrial group is much different then the Consumer Products group. Also a S&T team is going to be way different then the DCM/ECM team.

I would find a sector and product (M&A, S&T, DCM/ECM,etc.) you are passionate about and then go find a group in that space that you fit well with.

YAAAAASSS, GIIIIIRRRRL

THERE IS a big difference between groups that usually comes from the seniors. All the FIG depts are usually hardos cuz MDs are old hard asses. The Consumer teams are usually chiller along wtih Tech teams where people come in wearing borderline casual clothers and people don't care if you wWFH osme days

You really think there is no difference between GS and Nomura? Or even GS NYC and GS HOuston? Think about it and give me an honest answer.

it is said that people at mid tier bbs are more easy going and those at top tier bbs are demanding and pushing. Sometimes, I think this kind of “conclusion” may actually subconsciously guide people to be aggressive if they are told they will deal with unfriendly people even before they meet in person and vice versa. Interestingly
