Are these analyst wardrobe items "douchey"?
Hey guys - I am an incoming analyst at an american BB in NY starting this July. I recently had a birthday and just graduated college, and I recieved a lot of wardrobe related gifts from family and friends for my start date since I didnt have too much.
I am worried about some of them coming off douchey as they are pretty expensive accessories.
First, I got a couple Hermes ties with the typical pastel / printed pattern. Personally, I love them, but I noticed a lot of past threads calling these ties douchey and pretentious for analysts to wear. I also got a Ferragamo belt (the one with the two circles), although the buckle is not their largest one. It is still fairly obvious what it is though.
And last but not least, I got my favorite watch from an Uncle who owns a jewlery store. Its a brand new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. Love it, but it is a $6,000 piece.
Should I not wear any of these things on the job? Sucks because I like all of them, but I am not sure family understands that quality seems to be looked down upon at a young age in this industry, for whatever reason.

I wore a Ceramic Planet Ocean 42 mm. to work when I was a summer analyst at a BB and no one cared. It depends on you mate.

Hermes Ties - Tread carefully here. This may just be my personal opinion but any overly colorful tie, regardless of brand, should be avoided. In other words - if you are wearing a seafoam green tie with the classic Hermes animal pattern then yes that might look bad for you. Hermes makes some great ties that are far more subtle FYI.
Ferragamo belt - I personally would consider you a tool for wearing this. Sorry.
Watch - Totally fine. Nobody will care or even really know the price unless they are into watches. Any VP, MD, or even Associate who is into watches enough to notice and have an opinion on you wearing a Planet Ocean will no doubt have a more expensive watch on if you are worried about that.
I'd consider the Ferragmo belt and Hermes ties too over the top for an Analyst. The watch would be fine. Everybody appreciates a good time piece as long as you're not a 22 year old flaunting daddy's Patek.
Similar to everyone's comment here, I'll leave the tie/belt at home. I also don't see a point of rotating one hermes tie amongst 10-15 "regular" ties.

Thanks guys. Im going to keep the ties since I think they are the more conservative lines of Hermes given that they are darker colors than some others I have seen. Returning the belt now though.

Depends on the group culture. Hermes ties, Swiss watches and designer belts aren't out of the ordinary, though Ferragamo belt buckles are a bit affected regardless of context. Multiple associates in my former group wore Ferragamo belts with two bits and matching loafers.
As an analyst, I would probably stay away from wearing an Hermes tie, Swiss watch, designer belt and shoes in tandem, but one or two of the items to spice up an otherwise conservative suit / shirt shouldn't be a problem and is strong style especially during your second year.

Belt looks shit in any context. If I saw that in London on a banker, PE guy, I'd think they had no taste.
No one cares about the tie or the watch.
Tbh, wrt to Hermes ties, I don't think there's so much of a stigma as is made out on here. I'd say it's only a thing if an analyst is wearing a tie for £150 and a suit or shoes worth the same. I mean come on, get your priorities right.
No problem whatsoever in taking care of your appearance. I'd openly encourage that, within your budget
