Asset management internship or risk it all and possibly get nothing?

I'm a junior at a strong European uni looking to do IB full-time in the US (Edit: I'm a US citizen). Problem is, I only knew what IB was recently and have been working my ass off trying to find an internship at a boutique IB, PE or PC fund with no success. I have an AM interview lined up, but I've been delaying it in hopes of finding something else.

I have sent over 400 emails and follow-ups in the past week alone with tons of rejections. As summer approaches, it's going to be harder and harder to land something, and I'm not sure how much longer I can delay the AM interview, so I was wondering:

Should I take the AM role and give up on IB/PE/PC for this summer, and try to secure a FT offer using the AM role? Or should I risk it all and keep trying to get an IB/PE/PC internship?

How many steps is the interview? If it’s multiple steps you can expect the whole process to last AT LEAST 2 weeks.

And if it’s just one round, do it anyway.

You can always renege if you find a better option, I wouldn’t worry about burning bridges. Just explain them the situation candidly as I’m sure they will understand.

It's impossible for you to do FT in the US. You're not eligible for an automatic visa if you went to a European school (vs your friends at US schools who can stay for a few years), and no one is sponsoring an H1B visa for a new grad with under 30% chance of getting it (actually less than that for being a new grad with no experience)

Find a job with an American company in the EU and then lateral over in 2 years. Or if this AM job is through a connection guess you can take that, but the visa situation is just a nonstarter if you didn't go to a US school

Got it that does make a difference. I would put that on your resume if it's not there already as with EU school I would assume you weren't

I would take the AM thing and run... you're a month away from start date of internships, no one is hiring in this market. FT will be similarly difficult so I would keep networking for FT and do all you can, but wouldn't turn down the AM offer for FT if you have no other offers by then
