At a lower middle market trying to lateral after summer

I have a quick question, I am currently at a state school non-target with a 3.7 gpa and a competitive resume. I have contacts at around 10 BB and MM shops who are willing to pass my resume along for FT recruiting. I went through SA recruiting and ended up without a structured internship but am currently interning with a middle market company (40 bankers) with offices in 5 locations. My group did 13 deals last year totaling 1.5B. This summer I have gotten decent experience including putting together a pitch book myself with the FT analyst checking everything over and did some due diligence on a current live deal as well as other various stuff including industry research company profiles ext. The nice thing is my group basically consist of a few MDs and an analyst as well as a VP that floats between groups, so I have direct exposure to work.

My question, of course all other things aside, is how easy or difficult will it be for me to lateral to a large MM or BB? Issue is I will have very limited modeling experience and the MM I work at doesn't have a large name and of course I didn't receive any offers last year for SA so I must not be the best interviewer.

Now of course I hate these threads talking about "what are my chances" but I just want to hear from anyone who has been in my situation and how it worked out.

Thanks

How are you going to break in? Just email these contacts asking them to kindly pass your resume along to the staffer for FT recruiting? I'm curious how you're going to word/approach this, since I am in a similar situation.

Haters gonna hate

For the pitchbook, you must have done basic valuation modeling, right? Did you perform LBO and M&A analysis?

Just trying to get a sense for the level of content you were responsible for.

I think you are in good shape to land interviews. Again, how you handle those just depends. If modelling is your weakest area, I suggest brushing up on that through WSO or BIWS' modelling courses and interview prep (cue Patrick or Andy's shamless plugs haha).
